Happy ending
After they had not made love
she pulled the sheet up over her eyes
until he was buttoning his shirt:
not shyness for their bodies- those
they had willingly displayed- but a frail
endeavor to apologize.
Later, though, drawn together by
a distaste for such 'untidy ends'
they agreed to meet again; whereupon
they giggled, reminisced, held hands
as though what they had made was love-
and not that happier outcome- friends.

I'm in love with this poem. I think if relationships (and by relationships, I don't necessarily mean romantic ones) would actually turn out with this easy, cute and heartwarming, well.. finale, the world would be a better place. If we could just put aside all the expectations, stereotypes and categories we're "supposed to fit in", and just do what we feel like doing. Feel how we feel like feeling. Be with who we feel like being. Ten hundred thousand obstacles aside :)
Who said growing up was easy?
It's funny how you can remain in the same old state of consciousness and awareness for an unbelievably long time, but then someone fucks you over and your whole system collapses to create a sophisticated mess you'd like to call "personality".
